Single Board Computers (also called SBC and CPU
cards) are entire systems
integrated on a single printed circuit board. A SBC includes
processor, disk controller, network interface,
communication ports, main memory, solid-state memory, display
controller. And most SBCs have built-in
watchdog timer and ROM disks for stand-alone applications.
Because a SBC plugs into a backplane bus, the
SBC can be replaced in minutes, hence providing easy system maintenance,
CPU upgrades, and minimal down time.
